INDUSTRIAL CONSTRUCTION

Industrial & Manufacturing Metal Buildings

Industrial metal buildings are engineered for demanding applications: manufacturing, processing, assembly, and heavy fabrication. Clear-span interiors, crane-ready framing, reinforced foundations, and specialized mechanical systems -- all designed by our PE engineers and built by our crews.

What We Build

Our industrial metal buildings support manufacturing and processing operations across Georgia and the Southeast.

Manufacturing Plants

Assembly lines, fabrication shops, production facilities. Designed for process flow, equipment placement, and material handling systems.

Processing Facilities

Food processing, chemical processing, pharmaceutical. Climate-controlled environments with specialized ventilation and sanitary finishes.

Heavy Fabrication Shops

Steel fabrication, machine shops, welding facilities. Crane-ready framing, heavy-duty floors, high bay areas, and industrial electrical.

Maintenance & Repair

Fleet maintenance, heavy equipment repair, rail car maintenance. Drive-through bays, overhead cranes, wash-down floors.

Assembly & Packaging

Product assembly, kitting operations, packaging lines. Climate-controlled, well-lit interiors with flexible floor plans.

Research & Testing

R&D facilities, testing labs, pilot production. Specialized HVAC, clean rooms, isolated vibration slabs.

Cost Range

Industrial building costs vary widely based on crane requirements, floor specifications, and process infrastructure.

Basic industrial shell (open bay, minimal finish) $25-35/SF
Standard industrial (office area, process utilities) $35-50/SF
Heavy industrial (cranes, reinforced floors, full MEP) $45-75+/SF

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a metal building support an overhead crane?
Yes. Pre-engineered metal buildings are routinely designed with integrated crane systems. We install top-running and under-running bridge cranes up to 50+ ton capacity. Crane loads are factored into the primary frame design from the beginning -- columns, foundations, and bracing are all engineered for the specific crane requirements.
What is the maximum clear span for an industrial metal building?
Standard clear-span widths go up to about 200 feet. For wider buildings, multi-span designs with interior columns allow virtually unlimited width. Most industrial buildings in the 60-150 foot range are clear-span, while buildings 150+ feet wide typically use interior columns to reduce steel weight and cost.
How are industrial metal buildings ventilated?
Industrial ventilation strategies include ridge vents, wall louvers, exhaust fans, supply fans, evaporative coolers, and full HVAC systems. The right approach depends on your process -- welding shops need aggressive exhaust, food processing needs climate control, and general manufacturing often uses a combination of natural and mechanical ventilation. We design the system for your specific use.
Can you build to support heavy floor loads?
Yes. Industrial metal buildings frequently require reinforced concrete floors designed for heavy equipment, forklift traffic, and point loads. We design floor slabs with the appropriate thickness, reinforcement, and joint spacing for your loading conditions. Common industrial floor specs include 6-8 inch slabs with fiber or rebar reinforcement and hardened surfaces.
Do you handle environmental and utility requirements?
We coordinate all site-related requirements including stormwater management, utility connections (water, sewer, gas, electrical, data), fire suppression, and environmental compliance. For manufacturing facilities, we work with your process engineers to ensure the building and site infrastructure support your operations.
