WORKSHOP & GARAGE

Metal Workshop & Garage Buildings

A properly built workshop is one of the best investments you can make. Metal workshop buildings give you a dry, secure, well-lit space for vehicle maintenance, woodworking, fabrication, or any hobby or side business -- at $20-35 per square foot, significantly less than stick-built construction.

What We Build

From backyard hobby shops to professional auto repair facilities, we build workshops that actually work.

Personal Workshop

Your space for woodworking, metalwork, automotive projects, or any hands-on hobby. Climate-controlled, well-lit, with enough power for serious tools.

Auto Repair Shop

Professional-grade auto and truck repair facilities. Drive-through bays, lifts, compressed air, drainage, and commercial electrical.

Fabrication Shop

Welding, metal fabrication, and custom work. Ventilation, three-phase power, overhead crane provisions, and heavy-duty floors.

RV & Boat Storage

Tall, deep garage bays for storing recreational vehicles, boats, and trailers. 14x14 or 16x16 doors for easy access.

Detached Garage

Multi-bay garages for vehicle collections, project cars, and overflow parking. Finished or unfinished to your preference.

Small Business Shop

The building that starts a business. Lawn care, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry -- any trade that needs a base of operations.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size metal workshop do I need?
For a personal workshop with one vehicle bay and workbench space, a 30x40 (1,200 SF) is a good starting point. If you need two vehicle bays plus a dedicated work area, step up to 40x60 (2,400 SF). Auto repair shops and serious hobbyists typically need 40x60 to 50x80. Think about what goes inside, add room to work around it, and add 20% for future growth.
What electrical service does a workshop need?
Most workshops need at least 200-amp single-phase service. If you are running a welder, air compressor, and power tools simultaneously, 200 amps is the minimum. Professional auto shops and fabrication shops often need 400-amp or three-phase service for larger equipment. We design the electrical system based on your equipment list.
What overhead door size do I need?
For standard trucks and SUVs, a 10x10 door works. For lifted trucks and trailers, go 12x12. For RVs, box trucks, and large equipment, 14x14 is standard. We recommend going at least one size bigger than you think you need -- a 12x12 door costs only slightly more than a 10x10 but the extra clearance is worth it.
Do I need to insulate my workshop?
In Georgia, yes -- at least the roof. An uninsulated metal building in summer can reach 140+ degrees inside. Condensation in winter will drip on your tools and vehicles. At minimum, install roof insulation and a vapor barrier. For year-round comfort, add wall insulation and HVAC. The cost of insulation is a small fraction of the building and dramatically improves usability.
Can I build a workshop with living quarters?
Yes -- this is called a barndominium or shouse (shop-house). Georgia allows residential use in metal buildings in most counties, though you will need residential building permits, inspections, and code compliance (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, fire separation). See our barndominium page for details.
