Plan the Building Around Its Use
The following decisions help establish a clear scope before design, procurement and field work.

Identify the largest vehicles or equipment, door openings and work clearances. Allow for how equipment enters, turns and moves between bays.

Lifts, machines and other fixed equipment can affect foundation and slab design. Provide manufacturer requirements before the concrete scope is finalized.

List the tools, service equipment and work activities planned for the shop. Project designers use these requirements to coordinate power, ventilation and other building systems.

Give parts storage, staff facilities and administrative areas defined space. Good separation helps keep daily work organized as the business grows.
